Embracing Change

We never really know the ultimate direction that life is taking us. We may think that we have a grasp on where we’re headed but at a moment’s notice, everything can change. It’s an interesting fact of life and I believe that with the understanding of that information, it’s wise to develop the skills necessary to embrace change in our daily lives. Because, as much as we’d like to believe that we’re in control of our lives, we’re often reminded of the fact that we are just along for the ride and the best we can do is to go with the flow. I mention this because Episode 2 of Season 3 of the modern electrician podcast centers around change.

Our guest today is a woman from Wisconsin named Maggie who spent her early years pursuing med school and a career as a physician. While she didn’t become a doctor, that path lead her into the fitness and nutrition field where she built a business of her own. But then, as so many of us have had to do, she had to make a sudden change. Luckily she chose to pursue a career in the electrical trade! This brings us to our second topic of change for this episode and that is the changing of the guard that is taking place in the trades today as we see so many young women choosing a trade as their career path. The trades, which for so long was considered a man’s world, is changing its stripes as it welcomes in tons of talented and passionate women across the world. Pretty cool, if you ask me.

Change is hard. Whether you’re changing career paths or changing the face of an industry, it takes courage. You’re going to run into a lot of people that are going to tell you its not possible or that you don’t belong but that can’t stop you. It’s important to pursue your passions, no matter who you are. Don’t allow social norms to stand in your way. I was really happy that Maggie made some time to chat with me, tell me her story and open up about the new adventures she’s taking on. Hope you all enjoy this episode.
